What are the risks associated with Vaginoplasty?

Like all surgical procedures, with vaginoplasty there is always a possibility of complications. Although these complications are extremely rare, they can include:

  • Infection.
  • A reaction to the anaesthetic.
  • Bleeding and haematoma.

What else should I know about risks and complications?

Patients should be aware that risks may more often occur among persons who smoke, are overweight, have diabetes or other health problems.

Will I have scarring?

As incisions are required during vaginal tightening, some scarring may result. However, your cosmetic surgeon will make every effort to place the incisions in a discreet location, mainly inside the vagina or in a natural crease or fold in the area. With proper care, these scars will eventually fade into a barely noticeable and fine line.

What happens if permanent damage occurs?

You might need further surgery to correct the problem.
