Feather lift Surgery

As we age so does our skin it becomes weakened and the underlying support structure starts to sag. A feather face lift is a minimally-invasive surgical procedure that delivers a significant improvement in facial appearance without some of the drawbacks of a traditional face lift. Some of the benefits of a feather face lift include minimal discomfort, no scarring, no general anaesthesia required, and a quick recovery. The Feather Lift is also known as the APTOS Lift, the APTOS Thread Lift, and Suture Suspension Face Lift.

What does Feather lift Surgery Involve?

After identifying the areas of your face where lifting will produce the best results, the areas are marked and a local anesthetic is injected along the lines of the thread paths. The threads are inserted in the hairline just above the ear for the cheeks and jowls, just behind the ear for the neck, and inside the hairline above the forehead for eyebrow lifting. After the threads are in place the ends of the threads are clipped and slip back under the skin, and the area is taped to stop movement in the next few days. At the entry site in the hairline, Contour Threads are anchored under the skin to provide support for the lifting effect. Feather Lift threads have barbs going in both directions and do not use anchoring.

What areas can be treated?

The threads can be used anywhere on the face where a gentle lifting is needed. This procedure is best suited to patients with mild to moderate sagging of facial tissues. The areas which are most commonly treated are the brow, cheeks, the jaw line-jowls, and the neck. Patients with considerable sagging may be best suited for a face, brow, and neck lift instead, to get the best results.

How long does Feather lift surgery take?

The feather facelift procedure is generally done on an out-patient basis under a local anesthetic and possibly sedation. The entire procedure takes anywhere from 1 to 2 hours, depending on how many areas are being treated.

What are the side effects?

Side effects can include bruising and mild swelling, however most people can return to work in a few days depending on the individual.

What can I expect from a Feather lift?

The feather face lift results are very similar to the results of other mini-face lifts and can be combined with other facial procedures to further enhance a patient’s appearance; your expectations have to be realistic. Most patients are pleased with the outcome and find they have a feeling of increased self-confidence, and look younger and much more refreshed.
