Am I a suitable candidate for Canthoplasty?
Canthoplasty is for people with sagging lower eyelids. The eyelids can be droopy or too low because of prior eyelid surgery, ageing or paralysis.
Canthoplasty is a highly individualised procedure. Usually it is performed in addition to a facelift and brow lift, though many patients have it on its own. Canthoplasty may be a good option for you if:
- You are physically healthy.
- You don't smoke.
- Have loose, sagging, fatty lower eyelids that can benefit from Canthoplasty.
- You have a positive outlook and specific, but realistic goals in mind for the improvement of your appearance.
Am I of a suitable age for canthoplasty?
Most people who decide to have canthoplasty are in their late 30s to mid 40s and beyond.
Can younger people have canthoplasty?
If saggy or fatty lower eyelids exist, this procedure may be beneficial at an earlier age. You should wait until after the age of twenty to determine if they are out of the "child" stage before having this procedure. This is because, as your body ages, your cheeks may naturally lose some fat.
Who may not be suitable for canthoplasty?
Anyone who has swollen or fatty-looking eyelids due to an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism) or myxedema.
Will I have dark circles under the eyes after canthoplasty?
Canthoplasty will not improve the dark circles beneath your eyes unless the dark area is caused by shadows caused by bulging fat in the lower eyelids.
Can I combine canthoplasty with other cosmetic procedures?
Canthoplasty may be performed as a stand-alone procedure or combined with other facial cosmetic surgery, such as facelift procedures, liposuction of the neck, or rhinoplasty (nose correction).
